[REVIEW] Naruko Rose & Botanic HA Complex + NRK Essential Rose Astringent Lotion

I've become a fan of Naruko products ever since trying out their stuff in Hong Kong early last year. Luckily for me, my bf visited Taiwan during Christmas last year and bought a lot of their products back for me :D

Naruko products originate from Taiwan so they are a lot cheaper locally. The rose astringent lotion for example is around $199 NT (~$6.80 USD) but on their US site it goes for $13.00/bottle! If you ever have a chance to visit Taiwan or have friends traveling there, be sure to pick up a few of their items to try out! Of course, their products can be bought through their official US/Canada sites (and many other regions) and even Sasa.com carries their stuff.

I bought a set from their Rose series. You can read my review on their rose face wash here. At that time they were doing a special offer and I got a free rose toner, the rose astringent lotion, for spending over a certain amount. To my surprise, the toner was pretty awesome!

Product description:
This lotion provides long-lasting hydration and improves the skin's texture. Refreshing rose notes invigorate the senses while rose extracts and rosewater soften, calm, and refine enlarged pores. Skin is left bright, balanced, and ready for further treatment.

In other words this toner is used to clarify and reduce pores. On the bottle, there are two suggested ways of using it:

1. Prior to applying make up, wet a cotton pad and apply to T-zone (or any other oily areas) to help with oil control and reduction of pore size. Alternatively, you may soak a compressed mask with the toner to apply to your entire face prior to make-up to ensure a smooth foundation application.

2. Apply onto your foundation sponge to help with the application of base make-up.

I used this toner as a mask before applying foundation and it worked wonders. Foundation glided on really nicely and stayed put without getting oily for the entire day.

And of course you can use this toner after deep cleansing to help clarify and close pores. This was absolutely wonderful after clearing out blackhead/whiteheads with my Clarisonic and mud masks! The pores on my nose was left noticeably smaller :D

One thing that might bother some people is that the fragrance of this toner is pretty strong - although it does smell nice if you're a fan of roses like me. BUT it doesn't appear to be an artificial fragrance as there isn't any listed in the ingredients. The smell doesn't really linger either so it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

Pros:
- Does exactly what it says: reduces and clarifies pores + hydrates
- Natural rose scent
- Very affordable if you're in Asia/Taiwan

Cons:
- Can be pricey if buying outside of Taiwan/Asia ($13 USD vs $199 NT [$6.80 USD])
- Not for those that aren't too fond of rose scents

Re-buy when I'm out? YES!

Along with their face wash, I've been using their rose botanic ha complex serum in both the morning and evening. I have quite a few serums open right now so I alternate through them every other day. I love the packaging of this serum as it comes with a convenient syringe-like pump.

The big button on top sucks up/dispenses the product for you. 1-2 pumps is good enough for your entire face.

The consistency is medium - like most serums. Not too runny but has a bit of texture. Like the rest of their rose fungus products it also has the same signature rose scent.

Another plus is that according to their site this product (like most of their other products) is made without parabens, preservatives, artificial ingredients or coloring. The product is cruelty free and is not tested on animals :D

This serum absorbs very quickly after lightly massaging and patting it in. It gives a nice boost of moisture and a light dewy glow. I use this both before make up and in my night skin care routine. In the evening, I will follow up with a moisturizer to lock everything in.

 Pros:
- Lightweight, absorbs very quickly
- Hydrating
- Natural rose scent
- No artificial ingredients

Cons:
- Can be pricey if buying outside of Taiwan/Asia ($23.50 USD vs $399 NT [~$13USD])
- Not for those that aren't too fond of rose scents

Obligatory selfie before closing off the post (with both products used - I'm sure you can tell right :p)
