I've been trying to get this light ash brown color for the absolute longest time. Refusing to bleach my hair got me no where close to what I wanted. I was so against the idea of bleaching my hair (and I still am) because it was so long and I didn't want to risk frying the ends completely. After I chopped it into a short bob, I really wanted to experiment with more colors since outgrowing damaged ends is much faster.
After a bit of a discussion with my stylist, we came to the conclusion of using a lower intensity bleach to minimize damage but still lift all the colors in my hair. My hair had 2-3 tones because of previous at-home dye experiments. It would be very difficult to get an even hair color without lifting everything out first.
My previous hair color was a medium brown:
The entire process took around 4.5 hours including a very quick bang trim at the very end. Bleaching my hair was less painful than I had imagined but still slightly irritating when heat was added to help the chemical process. With super sensitive skin, it was still - surprisingly - bearable! Of course, damage to my hair is unavoidable. With that being said, my hair still feels and looks like hair and not a bunch of dry hay (thank god). Going to do some at-home hair masks and treatments to put moisture back in for sure.
And more after photos!
I'm super happy with the end result - it was exactly what I wanted!
I got my hair done at .COM Pop which just opened recently at the new Aberdeen Square (the new Aberdeen expansion beside the skytrain) and my stylist was Enid :) shes super friendly and speaks fluent English and Mandarin.
They have the word POP in their name for a good reason - the entire salon decor is completely Andy Warhol pop art themed!
The best part is that they're having an awesome opening promotion - 50% off all services until the end of July! And no I'm not being sponsored! This is probably the best deal ever. They use l'oreal professional products and all of their stylists are very experienced. Do take advantage of this if you are in the area!
