Recent Korean Skincare Faves

Summer has officially arrived! It's the best time of year climate wise for Vancouver. With that being said, it can get quite dry as well. My skin is already on the dry side to begin with so even in the summer I focus heavily on moisturizing!

After cleansing, I start with Innisfree's Blueberry Rebalancing Skin Toner to return my skin to it's proper pH level (5.5) and to put moisture back in. The ingredients for this is fairly simple - mostly made up of blueberry fruit extract, propanediol and glycerin. I highly recommend using this for the 5 or 7 layer toner skin care routine. If you haven't heard about this yet, it is basically layering a single moisturizing toner multiple times without using any other product. I usually apply 2-3 layers of this before make up in the morning for an extra boost of moisture.

Missha's Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence is known to be the Korean dupe for SK II's famous Treatment Essence. I have tired both and honestly, I like this one by Missha a lot more. For one, there is no "rotting" yeast smell like the SK II - yuck! I use this in the AM and PM before any serum or moisturizer. My skin feels instantly softer after applying!

If you're looking for a hydrating boost in your routine, an essence with vitamin B5 and Hyaluronic acid is your best bet. I picked up the Fresh Nation B5 Hydropower Complex Essence while I was in Asia a few months ago. This is extremely moisturizing with hyaluronic acid and panthenol as it's main ingredient and soothes the skin with Clary extract. This can even be used on the under eye area. No artificial fragrance or colorants! Finish off with a moisturizer to lock all the moisture in.

Another hydrating product that I've been loving is the popular Laneige Waterbank Serum. I switch between the B5 and this every other day just so my skin doesn't get too used to one product. Equally moisturizing, but slightly heavier than the B5 serum so I prefer to use this at night.

Belif's Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream is a light weight and hydrating formula that can be used day and night. I haven't seen much firming effects from this but this is definitely moisturizing! Any fine lines that are a result of dryness will improve instantly and absorbs quickly so you can use this under make up during the day.

If you have extremely dry skin, Holika Holika's Skin & Good Cera Super Cream is your savior. I use this at night or when my skin is feeling like the sahara desert during the day. The thick cream texture seals in all the skincare products applied beforehand. Paired with a moisturizing serum or essence, this cream keeps my skin plump and hydrated.

And last but not least, I always finish off my skincare routine with lip balm. The Nivea Hydro Care has been my long time fave and I have one in almost every hand bag I own!
